The Bible is the only book that gives supernatural confirmation to support its claim of divine inspiration. Other scriptures which contradict it cannot, therefore, be true. The law of non-contradiction states that two contradictory statements cannot be true at the same time. If one proposition is known to be true, its opposite must be false. If. The doctrine of the authority and inerrancy of Scripture is rooted in the doctrine of God; as God is true and trustworthy, so is his word recorded in the original autographs of Scriptures. This means that all things that the Scriptures assert are wholly true, both in the Old Testament, the Scriptures of Jesus and the apostles, and in the New.

Since the Bible is largely narrative in nature, the ‘authority of scripture’ cannot solely be about giving the Christian authoritative commandments or lists of sins. God’s Spirit works through all of scripture to lead us into a story he is still telling – in the life of the Church/5.   The theological impact of accepting the absolute authority of biblical scripture is enormous-especially for women who attend and serve churches. For example, Hilkiah’s discovery of “a book of the law” tucked away in the Temple (2 Kings ), Jeremiah and Baruch’s tag-team to pen a set of scroll oracles against.
